Family and fun...

My dad, and younger brother were able to come up for a visit last weekend. It was quite nice to see them, as it's been about six months since the last time. Unfortunately, they were only here for a short time but were able to check out a couple of the features of NYC before heading back.

We were able to visit the Statue of Liberty, and took a walk for a few miles around manhattan. The statue was a new thing for me as well, as I'dd seen it from across the water but never in person. We weren't able to actually go into the statue, as we didn't make it to the ticket counter before they ran out of time passes, but we did get to go out to the island.


On another note, I added the Glock 22 I was bitching about having a hard time buying to my collection. Thank God for personal firearm sales :). I'm taking it to a range Saturday morning, and going to put a few hundred rounds through it. This should offer some much needed relief for me, as shooting has been my primary form of self-therapy for years.

From what I can tell, this handgun is going to be around for a loooong time. Everything I've read about Glock's says they tend to last for hundreds of thousands of rounds. This is a tremendous improvement over the 2-3 thousand rounds I'm used to a high-powered rifle's barrel lasting. Hopefully this will offer many many enjoyable weekends of shooting.

I also have my girlfriend interested in shooting. She'll be at the range with me this weekend. I'm hoping she doesn't make a fool out of me too easily. I have probably got alot of bad habits to break before I can start to realize any true acuracy from a new gun, but we'll see how it turns out. I'll post target results sometime soon.
